What are the Impacts of Global Warming on Human Health?

Global warming can affect human health in many aspects.

Firstly, by causing more frequent heat waves, global warming can impact human health by causing more deaths due to heat related diseases. For example, in Phoenix, Arizona, there has been 10 consecutive days in which the temperature has surpassed 110 degrees Fahrenheit. This is a result of the heatwaves and rising temperatures caused by climate change.

Secondly, by causing more droughts, global warming impact the nutritional health of humans. In times of drought, crop production will be reduced and people will be threatened with increased food prices or insufficient food supply. This then leads to reduced eating of food and malnutrition among the people affected.

Also, climate change can impact human health by changing the distribution of certain diseases. By changing the temperature and precipitation patterns around the world, climate change makes it possible for animals such as ticks to migrate to new places in the world that have now become habitable for the species. The migration of ticks has caused a tenth-fold rise in the cases of Lyme disease in the UK.
