The Water Crisis: How Climate Change is Impacting Water Resources

As climate change intensifies, it is putting more pressure onto global water security in a number of ways. It is noteworthy that the impact of climate change on global water resources can have large impacts given the increase in the global population in recent decades and the huge demand of water we now have for our domestic, agricultural, and industrial activities.

Firstly, climate change causes the intensification of the global water cycle and droughts and floods to both be more frequent in certain regions around the world. Places that are already lacking in water will face more frequent droughts while places that are flooding now can experience more flooding in the future. This can harm food availability and the public health of people around the world.

Secondly, climate change can deplete stored water resources by simply raising the global average temperature and causing more evaporation in the water bodies that provide crucial water resources to nearby communities.

Overall, it is important to recognize the significance of the impact climate change can have on global water supplies and take precautionary measures to protect the water source we have today. This can include the refinement of sewage systems and water storage sites.
