Renewable Energy: The Path to a Cleaner Future

As the world is facing more and more significant challenges caused by climate change, more people has built an awareness for the harm of fossil fuels on the global environment and wish the adapt use of renewable energy sources instead.

Solar power is a popular source of renewable energy. Widely used in high-income countries such as the US, many family ask solar panel companies to install solar panels onto their roofs, providing them a portion of their monthly energy consumption. However, solar power has its benefits and costs. While being expensive during installation, solar power has little running cost given that sunlight is free. However, the storage of power attained via solar radiation requires advanced battery technology and may lead to energy wastage.
Hydroelectric power has also been a popular renewable source. By building dams, water in a river can be stored and released at once through spinning turbines to generate electricity. Although this creates huge energy supplies along with recreational and tourism opportunities, the construction of dams may impact migratory routes of fishes in the stream and cause flooding upstream, eliminating heritage sites or wildlife habitats.

It is important for everyone to work together and spread awareness about the importance of renewable energy so that the prices of renewable energy can be reduced and more people will be able to access this more environmentally friendly source of power.
