How to Build an Eco-Friendly Home
Several components are needed in an eco-friendly home.
Firstly, the house needs to be of good insulation. Its glasses can be double-layered, its ceiling can have reflective foil on its inner layers, and its walls can have cavities containing air concealed within. All these designs make the house a good insulator of heat, keeping cool in the summer and warm in the winter and thus reducing the need for additional energy in order to change the temperature of the house.
Secondly, the house needs to be made of locally sourced, eco-friendly materials that do not generate pollution or too many emissions during their manufacturing process. This means to use materials such as wood or other more advanced materials instead of concrete, which generates many emissions while they are processed.
Thirdly, the house needs to involve some green space or vegetation. Green spaces and vegetation help reduce the temperature and mitigates the urban heat island effect. Thus, such designs can reduce the need for air condition during summertime and save energy use for the house’s occupants.
