Air Pollution and Public Health: A Deadly Connection

Air pollution can have great effects on public health. By emitting particles such as carbon dioxide, nitrous dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and other aerosols into the atmosphere, the combustion of fossil fuels lead to photochemical smog or in other words, air pollution.

The emission of such particles in the atmosphere can cause respiratory diseases, which children, the elderly, and people diagnosed with similar diseases in the past are especially vulnerable to. Diseases such as asthma and other cardiovascular diseases can be caused, especially in cities with lots of emission from traffic and industrial activity.

Efforts to mitigate the air pollution problem include the setting of regulations on traffic and industrial emissions and the installation of catalytic converters or the development of renewable energy and electric vehicles. Today, it becomes more and more important that these solutions are given more attention in order to remove the dangerous link between air pollution and public health.
